Om man spiste nyponsoppa for å minnes Jesu lidelse vil jeg tippe at den var uten sukker - dvs. sur. Men her bare gisser jeg.

Ellers er nyper (stenrose) funnet i de eldste lagene i byene i Norge, dvs. tilbake til 1000-1200.

En sed som kom med hemifrån mina föräldrar, eller snarare minst ett steg till bakåt, var att långfredagens mat bestod av sillsallad och som efterrätt just nyponsoppa. Den salta sillen (fastemat) och den röda nyponsoppan. Och sillsallad med rödbetor blir ju också röd! Associationen till törnekronan hörde jag aldrig.

Men minst lika viktigt var att det här var mat man kunde göra iordning någon dag i förväg. På långfredagen skulle man inte ens göra upp eld! Vi är före elektricitetens tidevarv med den här seden.

Så kanske man kan hitta något om man tittar på fastemat och långfredag.

Jag har sett omnämnanden att man redan på 1600-talet åt nyponsoppa för att påminna sig om Jesu lidanden. Detta med tanke på soppans "blod"-färg och associationen till törnekrona.

Så, är det någon som vet något om detta och har referenser/källor?

Nypon har jag inte hittat något vettigt om, men jag kan inte minnas att jag har sett det användas i något recept, även om de bevarade recepten ger en skev bild av kosthållningen.
Rabarber kom in i kosten först under 1800-talet. Tidigare användes det i medicinsk syfte och då bladen (som är giftiga pga. sin höga halt oxalsyra).
