Om jag inte missminner mig är det engelska ordet pollaxe, alltså poll som i huvud (jmfr pollare för förtöjning) pga hammaren, och har inget att göra med pålar, vilket ju det svenska faktiskt har slår det mig nu - Bål, pål, påle, även om just stavningen pålyxa är modern och är en försvenskning av ett missuppfattat engelskt ord, fast det blev rätt ändå i slutänden.

Lägg därtill att vi gärna försvenskade utländska ord redan då, samt möjligheten ett det är dom som tagit vårat ord från början, så är förvirringen total.

Svensk rustningsterminologi er, som på norsk, totalt influert av engelsk. Spørsmålet er om det finnes noen grunn til dette, eller om det bare er rester av AD&D og Palladium-boka. For meg gir det i allefall ikke mye sens å si "aventail" eller "greaves" når det finnes norske ord for det. Vedlegger en norsk ordliste og ber dere om at dere tenker over språkbruken og stanser den Franco-anglosaksiske kulturimperialismen.

Leve det svenske språket, bruk svenske uttrykk!
