Har hört ryktas om lamellrustningar som varit i bruk ända in i vårt årtusende nån stans i asien.

Egentligen borde väl en lamellrustning då kunna användas om jag skulle få för mig att överge vikingatiden och gå både framåt och bakåt i tiden?

Jo, i Tibet fanns det krigare som använde lamellrustningar av kinesisk och mongolisk modell så sent som under den kinesiska invasionen 1949, fast det var knappast av samma modell som användes i Europa (det var väl snarare byzantinska och västurkiska influenser). Ryssarna använde ju både ringpansar och lamell av läder och/eller stål, så det är ju inte omöjligt att skandinaviska krigare med östliga kontakter begagnade sig av sådan utrustning lång in på medeltiden (kolla på korsbetningen!)

Lamellharnesk <b>ÄR</b> jädrigt häftiga på alla vis <b>MEN</b> som Joakim skrev så har de hittats på Björkö och i en av korsbetningsgravarna. Av dessa båda fynd är det bara Björköfyndet (~550 lameller till dags dato) som kan knytas till vikingatid. Korsbetningslamellerna <i>kan</i> vara så gamla - men vi vet inte. Vad jag vill ha fram är att man skall ta det liiite lugnt med lamellharnesk - de är på god väg att bli vikingerirustningarnas "viborgskjorta" - dvs något som ses på var och varannan kämpe trots att bara ett bristfälligt bevarat orginal har återfunnits. Även om det är coolt som tusan så är mitt råd att inte skaffa ett.
