i hög grad liknar en typisk vikingatida lyra, den varianten som har
något insvängda "armar". Jag konstaterar vidare att lyrans form erinrar om hela bildstenens yttre kontur vilket kanske antyder en berättartradition där musik och bild samverkar. Bildberättelsen är
placerad - med denna tolkning - just i den av armarna och oket inramade öppningen där strängarna manipuleras...

Eftersom även "tå-spetsarna" har liknande räfflor kan det kanske vara vara utsmyckningar. Möjligen kan balken och dess räfflor tjänstgöra
som ett extra rytminstrument, dvs en resonansförstärkt skrapa som
hanteras med plektrum, balken kan också eventuellt varit ett skydd för strängarna, liksom de två "tornen" bl a på bärnstensstallen är,
t ex vid förvaring i påse eller låda.

Den lyrintresserade hittar föresten sedan någon vecka information om bronsstallet från Gerete i Fardhem socken i SiS - [url="www.historiska.se/data/?foremal=476881"]HÄR[/url]. Det är ett metalldetektorfynd som hittades under en efterundersökning av en skattfyndplats. Thunmark-Nylén nämnde det som kortast på sid 370 i WZG III:1.
