Jag syr en hel del skor och jag är övertygad om att alla vikingatidag och medeltida skor är för mjuka för att orsaka missbildningar. Det är ju t om behagligt att knalla omkring i dojjorna när man har nageltrång [:D]

Min stortå har så långt tillbaka jag kan minnas varit mer eller mindre lutad in mot de andra tårna. Jag har förhört mig angående mina skovanor som yngre och barn. Min mor talade om för mig att jag var en kräsen liten typ så tillvida att skorna inte fick sitta åt någonstans. Så jag har knappt gått i höga klackar för jag får ont i hålfoten (och tycker jag är tillräkligt lång ;o)) och skor som är spetsiga har jag aldrig tyckt om för de klämmer åt om mina så tossingar.

Sedan att många får ont av sina medeltidsskor har jag fått uppfattningen att det handlar om att våra fötter har det "för bra" i dagens skor. Det finns ju nästan inga skor som inte har en fjädrande och mjuk sula, eller luft/gel/vätskefyllda kuddar, så det känns som om man går på små moln. Så om man inte har patinor (eller ja, för min del med patinor också) så kan fötterna bli trötta, ömma och ledsna i medeltidsskor för att de inte får den confort de är vana vid i vanliga skor.

Rätta mig gärna om jag har fel eller om du inte håller med,

Jag har sett fall (när jag jobbade i hemtjänsten) som såg mer ut som ett plockepinn än en upsättning tår och det var säkert smärtsamt, men det var ett resultat av mellersta 1900-talets brutala damskor. Medeltidsskor verkar inte stela nog att vålla sådana deformiteter, dessutom är de ju snällare eftersom de saknar höga klackar.
Så "skördar sina offer"? Mina fötter ser säkert annorlunda ut efter 27 år i jogginskor och docs än vad de skulle gjort om jag hade gått barfota, men jag känner mig inte riktigt som ett offer, hur jag än försöker.

"Medeltida skor skapade problem
Redan på medeltiden hade man spetsiga skor, ett mode som skördar sina offer. Redan för 600 år sedan fick kvinnorna sina fötter förvridna genom olämpligt skoval. Detta kan Simon Mays i Portsmouth intyga. Först trodde han att den medeltida kvinna, vars skelettet han studerade, var angripen av en sorts sjukdom. Men när han observerade sin egen mors fötter insåg han vad det var frågan om. Vad kvinnan hade lidit av var helt enkelt det som läkarna kallar Hallux Valgus.
Hallux Valgus innebär att stortån är snedställd. Dess ände trycks mot andra tån och ibland ligger tårna omlott. Samtidigt blir leden mellan första mellanfotsbenet och stortån vinklad inåt, vilket gör framfoten bredare.
Denna deformitet drabbar främst kvinnor, och ska man tro den kolorerade veckopressen är Victoria Beckham ett av offren.
