Martina och Cizzi: jo, vet var något sådant jag tänkte; att det inte har så mycket med djuret som VAR på djuret man tar bitar ifrån. Ren har jag varit och nosat på under en längre tid, men inte fått tassarna loss och köpa mig ett skinn för att se. Jag testade och göra ett par skor av lite mer tjockare lamm förra året och ska testa dem det här året för att se hur det blir. Skorna är remkängor och sömen ligger mitt över vristen. Detta borde göra att skon inte töjs i första laget som tex vanliga lågskor. Men det är bara en teori jag har..: )

Töjer det sig mycket är det ju inte att rekomendera men det beror mycket på garvningen och inte så mycket på renen (djuret).

Det beror ju också lite på vilken del av skinnet du använder, huden är olika tjock och olika töjbar beroende på var på kroppen det suttit (ljumske, mage etc) eftersom det ju krävs olika egenskaper av det medan djuret lever. Tänk bara på din egen kropp, huden i ljumsken är till exempel tunnare och stretchig för att du ska kunna böja benen på alla möjliga vis utan att skinnet går sönder.

Annars är ju nöt alltid tacksamt att arbeta med, skinnet är stadigt och stabilt och skärs jämntjockt i garveriet.

Gällande kalvskinn så är specifikationen som följer:
Standard kvalité, vegetabilgarvat. Tjocklek 1,2 mm.

Är det strechigt? Segt? Hopplöst? Bäst? För sladdrigt?

Det jag tänkte ha det till är väskor och ovanläder till skor.
