Har sett intressanta antydningar och förslag på läderrustningar som ser ut som ett slags omlott-historia att ha över torson.
Men jag vill ju bära det som ett plagg mera, dock så har du rätt i ditt resonemang.
På en marknad så ja, nej kanske inte.

Samerna brukade och vissa gör det än idag, en skinnkolt som regnjacka. Såvisst, jag skulle inte döma ut det, MEN jag skulle nog råda dig att tänka på dem som "grovarbetskläder". För att jobba på åkern, i smedjan (ja, skinn skyddar bra vid hetta, utprovat praktist under min tid på Ekehagen) eller liknande. Det är nog inte finkläder. Vi har ett ganska stort antal skinnkappor funna från sen bronsålder och äldre järnålder, antagligen brukade som ett enkelt regnplagg.

När tygerna kom blev skinn inte längre fashionabelt, men det hade en funktion. Ha dock det i bakhuvudet när du brukar ditt plagg. Skulle en nordbo gå omkring i regnkappan på en marknad? Eller när han gjorde sig färdig för strid och ville se lite flashig ut?

Vissa saker kan vara historiskt rätt i en viss situation men helt fel i en annan, fast det är inom samma tidsperiod. Vi tycker skinnkläder ser coola och hårda ut idag. Men jag tror inte att man såg det så på den tiden.

Är det något som man skulle kunna våga sig på att göra?
Och är det historiskt "rätt" att man som viking kan bära ett plagg av
sådant materiel.
Har iofs inte sett antydningar till att sådant förekommit, men
jag skulle tycka det vore kanske ett logiskt val på sjön, iom impregnerat skinn säkerligen funkar som en bra regnkjortel tex.

Vore tacksam för svar och annars ideer.

Kan det inte vara så att skinn lika gärna kan åsyfta päls som garvat skinn av idag. När man förr benämnde t.ex. vargskinn, renskinn, rävskinn m.m. så åsyftade man säkert lika ofta djurpälsar som det vi menar med skinn idag.

Jag anser därför att det lika gärna kan röra sig om ett språkligt missförstånd än egentliga skinnkläder. Mantelfodret måste väl t.ex. rimligen vara päls?

Hosorna däremot kan kanske kunna tänkas vara skinn. Det finns underhosor(dvs. "knäbyxor") i tunnt skinn bevarade senast ifrån mitten av 1500-talet.

På alla medeltida bilder jag har sett där päls har varit inblandad har den varit som foder i ett plagg av tyg. Päls som man vänder inåt är mycket värmande eftersom det binder upp mycket luft. Jag antar därför att värmen är den största anledningen till pälsfodring, men det kan ju också ha varit att man ville visa upp hur dyr päls man hade råd att skaffa.

Eftersom vi inte sett några hossor på bild med päls på (utom möjligen vildmansdräkter) får väl anta att i alla fall hosorna var gjorda i skinn och inte i päls.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">
