Metallöljetter som man bankar fast fanns inte under medeltiden. Från 1400-talet finns bilder på silverringar som man har sytt fast på tyget och dragit snörningen igenom. Det är viktigt att dessa är hoplödda så att inte tråden letar sig ut genom skarven. Annars är det bara att sy öljetthål som gäller. Markera var hålet ska sitta. Tryck igenom en pryl (en spetsig pinne) för att pressa isär tygets trådar och bilda ett hål. Sy runt hålet med langettstygn. I engelska fynd från 1300-talet har man sytt två varv runt hålet.

Min första fråga är var ni tycker det passar bäst: i ryggen, i sidorna, framtill, i ärmarna eller bara i halssprundet?
Jag tycker ofta man ser folk som använt öljetter. Det är förstås det enklaste, men fanns det verkligen något liknande på medeltiden eller är det inte det minsta trovärdigt? Hur ordnar man bäst en korrekt snörning?
