Att skapa en tillrättalagd idealbild och inbilla sig att man gör en exakt rekonstruktion är både naivt och till skada, särskilt om man förespeglar andra att man har gjort en exakt rekonstruktion.

Att fullt medvetet skapa en tillrättalagd idealbild för sitt och sina vänners höga nöjes skull ser jag faktiskt inget större fel i. Vi kan raljera över den period då högreståndsfolk klädde ut sig och lekte herdar och herdinnor, men de hade säkerligen både roligt och trevligt, och om det var syftet, så...

Skillnaden ligger i att veta vad man gör - och det kräver kunskap.

Jag har upplevt det motsatta, att många strävar att mer och mer fjärma sig från detta (enligt mig) ondsinta, missledande 1800-talsfenomen. Lite av problemet (tycker jag) är att vår hobby upplevs som och antas vara just något sorts "Ivanhoeri" snarare än något allvarligt menat försök att återskapa representativ historia. Jag kan dock tänka mig att vissa av er nickar gillande över att vårt intresse generellt beskrivs som romantisernade medans vissa av oss, mig inkluderat, skakar missnöjt på huvudet.

Jag tycker personligen att man inte skall romantisera utan försöka gestalta saker som det var, i den mån det går.
Dvs man skall försöka gestalta respektiva grupp på respektive sätt.

Då kanske jag tog fel, men jag läste en gång en artikel av en kvinnlig forskare som klagade på reenactment och medeltidsveckan etc. då hon ansåg att det var "verklighetsflykt och romantisering av feodaltiden".

Ok, jag ser din poang. Inom historisk forskning sa fanns/finns det en grupp vilken endast intresserar sig i hur arbetar klassen levde under forna dagar, och ger blanka [}:)] i hur regenter och medelklassen hade det. Jag har stott pa den del av dessa "forskare" som ratar livet pa medeltiden pga. det politiska klimat som radde. Den person som jag hade tillfalligheten att prata med angande dessa saker var aven av asikten att Stalin var en frihets kampe. Sadan "historie forskning" finns med storsta sannolikhet aven i hoger krestar. Sjalv anser jag den enda uppmarksamhet som skall ges sadana personer skall vara fran valutbildad psyskolog.
